Pools offer a particularly challenging environment
with many external factors to consider ~ lighting, depth of water,
colour of the pool water, Health and Safety requirements. There
can appear to be many constraints but with imagination bespoke decorated
tiles, particularly in pool tanks, have huge design and decorative
potential.

Cardinal Clinic, Bray
This private commission involved using decorated
20x20mm ceramic mosaic to line an existing and ugly concrete pool.
The design was entirely free hand painted, the tiles were then fired
and reattached to tile backing before being labelled and packed
for easy fixing.
Several trials were undertaken to see how the colours
were changed by the water at different depths.
The design theme was chosen by the client for whom
the oak leaf had particular significance.
Our partnership with the client made this project
successful. They approved the initial tile section proofs prior
to work commencing and were kept informed throughout the entire
production process.

Tiles were tested by Ceram Research who supplied
a certificate verifying that thetiles complied with BS6431.
Exposure to pool chemicals. This certificate helped
create client confidence in the durability of our work.
This pool has now been installed for more than
15 years. The hand painted design is still as vivid as the day it
was fixed.
